HELPFUL HINTS – FALSE FRIENDS

INVEST

invest = use money to earn interest, develop a business enterprise, etc.; give time and effort to a task for some useful result

It’s not a good idea to invest all your money in one company.

Our neighbourhood group has invested a lot of time and energy in cleaning up the local park.

N.B. invest ? hit, run into, run down, run over, etc.

* The bicyclist was invested by a drunk driver.

> The bicyclist was run down by a drunk driver.
